Latch Hook Kit

The manager bought some rug kits for $1 each, sold all but 6 at a price of $22, and made profit $168. # kits?

Find the # of kits originally bought.....I keep ending up with 14 2/7 should I round it up for down? Is that even correct?

  1. profit=revenue-cost $168=$22*(x-6)-$1*x x=14.29 You did it right. It doesn't make sense that a fraction of a kit could be sold. Maybe check to see that you have the problem right? There always could just be a mistake in the book or wherever you got it. Based on the logic, it doesn't really matter if you round up or down.
  2. $168/$21= 8 8+6=14 Divide the profit by the profit per kit to tell you how many he sold. i.e. he bought them for $1 and sold them for $22 the profit was $21. He sold 8 kits. Then add on the number of kits left over 8+6=14 He bought 14 kits
