My dog ate crayons and threw them up on our light carpet. How do I get the purple spot (dye?) out of the rug?
The color is a combination of red, yellow, green, blue and purple crayons my daughter left unattended on the floor for a whole 5 minutes. The stain started out blackish-purple and so far I've tried pet spotter and a carpet cleaning kit. All it did was lighten the stain to a light purplish color. I'm keeping it damp so it won't set. Anybody ever had this problem? What should I use on my new carpet?

- Hi Mark, Dude, don't do any experiment with ur rug call immediately rug cleaners who are well trained and experience. Otherwise u will spoil ur rug.
- If rug is inexpensive and small enough I would power wash it at car wash. Use a ladder and put rug on ladder with the backing of rug facing you. Then start at stains that way you'll push stain out from the backing. Try Capture on it before cleaning it. You can get it at Home Depot it works great, but for pet stains you might need something stronger cause vomit has stomach acid in it. If rug was expensiveI would definately send it to a professional cleaner. I believe they use enzymes to get rid of stain and smell. If you do go the power wash route I would recommend putting some fans on it to get it dried ASAP so it doesnt curl up or smell humid.
