Ugh another math problem I can't understand...?
The Craft Shoppe bought some rug kits for $1 each, sold all but 6 of them for $22 each, and made a profit of $168. How many kits were originally bought? well if the answer is a little over 14....(I did type it correcty i checked) than should I round it down or up? Its impossible to have 14 and 2/7 of a rug kit....

- Let x be the number of kits originally bought. Then (x-6) is the number of kits sold. Shop's cost: 1 * x = x dollars. Shop's revenue: 22 * (x-6) = 22x - 132 dollars. Profit is (22x - 132) - x = 168 dollars. Solving that last equation for x, we get 21x = 300 so x = 100/7, or 14 and 2/7. I'm thinking the number of kits should be a whole number. Perhaps you have a typo in the problem? I'd expect the shop's cost to be something more than $1/kit. Hope that helps!
- I agree with the other answer.... it seems like there is an error in the problem because it doesn't come out to a whole number. Looks to me to be a little over 14.
