Latch Hook Kit

how do I make my own latch hook rug kit?

I am designing my own latch hook rug but do not know how to calculate how much wool i need for each colour. I would be buying ready cut wool. Any views on the best canvas would be helpful too. Thank you in advance.

1. Weren't Readicut always the biggest of the rug kit manufacturers. I once did about 6 inches of a rug when I was about 9. Got bored and my mum had to finish it off! :-) Looks like they are still going strong - maybe their site has some help on it? It certainly tells you the number of vertical and horizontal holes on their canvas.
2. as mentioned by the previous respondent, Readicut make and supply everything that you might need for your project, including the canvas,latchet hook and the rug wool cut to size (each pack of rugwool contains 100 pieces) all you neeed to do is work out the design on the rug making canvas, and then count up the number of lengths of wool you require of each colour) an easier way to do this is to send your design to readicut stating the overall size you want and the colour scheme you require and ask them to make up a kit for you, their designers will then work with your design and plan the quantity of each colour rugwool you require and they will provide the canvas, all neccesary rugwool , a latchet hook and if you request it the backing material for you to complete the project. i have used Readicut rug planning service in the past and have completed the project which gave me a very profesional looking rug once it was completed.
